Loft interior design for an urban and cosmopolitan life in the center of Madrid
Madrid, May 8th, 2018 – An open-plan space, for a contemporary and urban lifestyle. That’s the designing and decorating purpose design by architect and interior designer Nayra Iglesias to this loft located in the center of Madrid.
“From the beginning, the idea “, explains Iglesias, “has been created a current design apartment that would be as functional, cozy and sophisticated as possible, and achieve an aesthetic full of different textures and contrasts”. This is how they opted for material as brick, stoneware, brass, wood, and vinyl flooring, in this almost 100ms loft with”U-shape” plan.
We get, instead of out of tune, a harmony and a balance of materials, in a vibrant and delicate atmosphere, that has been finished off with an eclectic decoration combining design furniture, some vintage pieces and other industrial-look elements, that add value in a predominantly feminine and chic environment, the same as the studio’s recognized and characterized style.
The apartment is distributed, basically, in four main rooms: kitchen, living room, bedroom, and bathroom. All of them are open and connected with each other, because of the lack of interior walls, that generates the possibility of turning around a patio full of plants which – as an oasis lost in the middle of the city – brings a green and natural touch.
The 200m2 kitchen offers the main access and the first look at the house. The principal elements of this places have been designed in parallel with a large central island as the protagonist of the space, and behind which has been installed a wide floor-to-ceiling paneling storage module. Its white and contemporary finish stands out with the Triangle Grey flooring by Gerflor, which personalizes the area with its imitation micro-cement finish, waterproof material that prevents the passage of liquid substances, ideal for this kitchen area.
This space is completed with few elements, which give it a different character. It is achieved with Mid Century style stools with lacquered steel tubular structure and leather seats by Muebles Marieta, accompanied by a beautiful golden table lamp by Santiago Pons, and a couple of rattan mirrors by Singular Market.
The spacious living-dining room, almost 60m2, is adjacent to the kitchen and it’s opened to the center of the loft as the main heart home. It has got two different areas.
In one hand, the dining room with an immense central table where to socialize and receive family and friends, and on the other, the living area, where to relax in a more intimate and informal way.
The dining room is formed by a custom-made table with an industrial touch design by Nayra Iglesias surrounded by eight different chairs that mixed oriental and glamorous style. The contrast between the oriental chairs, made in a brass structure and signed by Vical Home and the Rizzo velvet chairs made by Singular Market, creates a unique and extremely feminine combination.
In this living-dining room, there are two flooring types from Gerflor Senso Clic Premium collection. The idea has been obtained a greater resistance to the frequent traffic so usual in this instance, opting for a light gray porcelain imitation design, “so recurrent”, says Iglesias, “in the world of the residential interior design”. The Gotha Clear pavement is chosen as general flooring.
The second pavement causes a change in the dining area, applying Diamond Cream from the HQR range, because of its simple and quick installation. It has been projected to form a visual carpet that closes and delimits the area, meanwhile, it’s playing with contrasts as the major idea project.
The living area is the more industrial style space of the loft, in which the interior designer and her team have introduced, nevertheless, a chromatic palette based on the color pink, blue and mustard with glam fabrics as velvet. “We’ve tried”, she adds, “to offer a more friendly and delicate side to the area through a composition of different elements, which vary both in shape and in aesthetics; an effect that we attempt to get with the sofa and armchairs from Muebles Marieta, or with the great feather ostrich lamp from La Nave Home, as well as the metals mixture silver and gold, added in details and minor decorative elements, but which still evokes the most distinguished salons”.
Throughout the loft, the finishing of the walls, with the exception of the toilets, are old brick walls that have been saved, their natural color has been maintained by varnish treatment, which also allows good maintenance.
These living walls are decorated with oriental style shelves by Vical Home with restored antique furniture.
One of these pieces is an exclusive chest from the 50s signed by the restorer Carolina Abril. A wonderful jewel in mahogany color with brass handles and worktop upholstered in synthetic gold fabric with textured waves.
Large lighting with rails in factory style, as well as a big mirror, cared in dark wood and rococo style, complete the decoration of this room, before arriving at the end of the home, where is the private bedroom with the suite bathroom.
In this night area, the interior design and decoration work, done by In Out Studio, acquires its most creative and daring point.
The color green and pink are incorporated successfully through the mixture of patterns fabric with which one of its main faces has been covered, as well as the textures that have been incorporated through the curtains and cushions of the new collection La Garçonnière de Avellaneda, Salvador print, by Güell Lamadrid.
A large oil painting, work from the artist María Miralles, presides over the room making a large headboard and balancing the strong appearance of the brick from the other wall. The lighting is in the hands of a large and imposing piece suspended in Art Deco style of Singular Market, and at the sides, there are feminine artisan glass lamps from Aromas del Campo. For the flooring, the Sunny White model of the collection Senso Clic Premium by Gerflor with white oak parquet finish, which adds warmth and serenity to the set.
The home ends, at the opposite os the entrance area, with a bathroom where you can access directly from the bedroom. Here it is betting to combine elements that grant an ethnic character with a lot of personalities. This is achieved thanks to a series of unique decoration pieces, such as the old Arab coffee grinder made of solid wood from the Carolina Abril restorer. On another side, in the shower, a funny composition with African fish masks from Sankore Design has been created.
Finally, the interior designer Nayra Iglesias has chosen as the floor, the Regimental Navy Blue model from the Creation 70 collection, which introduces the stripe as an attraction, in addition to all the necessary technical features that allow it to be installed in the bathroom with, again, the maximum guarantees of durability and resistance.
This is how a house with industrial architecture is discovered, with a sophisticated and feminine interior design for an urban and cosmopolitan life in the center of Madrid.
